childhood aspirations...

all right, it has finally snowed a suitable amount for this time of the year, I guess the blizzard really helped out with that... I am super happy about the snow, not so much the cold though, right now it's minus twenty-one! (mind you that is in celsius, not fahrenheit) I went snowboarding last night, it was rocking, there was hardly anyone there, which could be because the blizzard made the roads treacherous not to mention hard to drive on... yeah so I parked at the bottom of the "mountain" so I wouldn't have to go up a hill that was so icy, slippery, and covered in like two feet of snow... so I pulled into the parking lot that had accumulated that much snow or more instead, needless to say, although I will say it anyhow (which sort of makes needless to say a needless expression) in any case it was sort of difficult to park. So now all I have to do is cross the road, go up a little bit of a hill and under the fence that keeps you from going out onto the road and then up the lift, the funny part is on the way back it had snowed so much that it was really deep, I didn't realize how deep it really was until I got up to my knees, then I went a step further and I was up to my thighs, ( I was getting a sinking feeling...) then came the critical step of the whole evening I took one more step and I was chest deep in snow, the snowboard that I was once carrying was now laying nicely on top of the snow staring me in the face. ( I apparently had found a ditch of some sort.) All I did was sort of stand there, if you could call it that, in the snow and just laugh... (I had to wonder if anyone was watching me and how I would react if I had just seen someone disappear out of thin air...)you can say that that incident sort of fulfilled a childhood dream of it snowing so much that I could jump out of my second story window right into the snow, although in my delusion I had never thought of how to get out if one did find themselves in snow over their head... nevertheless I did indeed find a way out and am safely reunited with my computer... I still wish it would snow at least six feet but I am ok with frolicking in snow-filled ditches for now, well, have a fun day in the snow, I know I will! :)

poppins, where you at?

wow, it's been a long week! I had the opportunity to travel back to school on my birthday... alone... that was a hoot and a half, now I am trying to remember my schedule for school which is proving to be a greater task than some of the homework assigned. This morning I woke up to almost no snow - wow, can we say dissapointment, I thought there would be at least a little snow here, I mean there was but then what's with the dissapearing act, I really wanted to go snowboarding! The "mountain" if you can call it that, as (the saying sort of goes, don't go turning mountains into mole hills, well, the opposite could be said here, don't be calling that mole hill a mountain, what's is a mole hill anyhow? Is it a protective domicile for moles or a place they go for coffee or something?) Anyhoo, they said that it was closed because of high winds, I was thinking ok, well how bad could these "high winds" really be, so as I walked outside to go to my nine o'clock class I found out... If the wind had been blowing the opposite direction and I had worn clothes that were three or four sizes too big then I could have flown down to class, just like a hang glider... I couldn't believe it, I wouldn't have been surprised if Mary Poppins flew down, visited me and cleaned my room, orgainized my closet, did my laundry or anything else Mary Poppinsish, (if that's even a word). Any way if this wind keeps up I may have to call her and her really strong umbrella to come and keep me from blowing away... I will definately eat more at dinner tonight to prevent that! so that's that, I better go and do something constructive...

christmas (island)

I don’t really live on Christmas Island; I just put that there because it sounds like such a magical place full of wonder and excitement and who wouldn’t want to live on their own private island? At least for a little while... as long as it was surrounded by un-shark infested waters -with a diving board of course- and if it had it’s own runway that you could land your own private jet or Cessna 172 (I’m not a gadzillionare or anything, so I would have to go with the Cessna 172) Speaking of things that are incredibly awesome but which are mostly found in my dreams, who wouldn’t like to live in a house that had underground tunnels underneath it, a whole new world that you could hide out in, one section of my incredibly cool underground island would be a skatepark that would make Rodney Mullen wish that he would have invented it...(for those of you who are out of the loop in the world of skateboarding, Rodney Mullen is the creator of the shape of the skateboard as we know it today...) Also one section would be sectioned off for a killer bmx/motocross course but that’s another story...

As I said before I’m not an islander in real life, I really live in _______ ooh almost slipped up there, sorry but that has to remain undisclosed at this juncture because I am scared to death of the psycho computer hackers who try to steal your identity and your house and your little kid brother, if they find me they’ll probably kill me, or at least make me look for diamonds in a dark, dank, creepy cave somewhere. They are a threat: even if they just know the country that I live in (they are really up on all the technology stuff) like if you put your phone number in the little box on google then it gives you your address and directions to your house... for real, are you scared now, you should be! I’m not that paranoid, really! I just like to be careful about the whole identity theft scene.

toot sweet huh?

So there I was just chilling and watching chitty, chitty bang bang, I had never watched it before now, I thought watching a kids movie (at nineteen just four days before my birthday) would be a great thing to do over Christmas vacation. I have to say though the little dude with the big nose is scary as all get out, you know the one who hates kids, anyone who may be reading this, which would probably just include members of my immediate family... have probably already seen this movie and know what I’m talking about, but those who don’t have had a “chitty, chitty bang bang” deprived childhood... wow, the movie just keeps getting worse and worse, the scary man in the ugly suit is trying to lure the children into his cruel paddy-wagon with lollipops and ice cream, that’s just a crying shame... what kind of sick person makes this up? It’s definitely my pick for favourite movie of the week. Speaking of favourite movies I watched “The Little Troll Prince” in honour of Christmas of course, while we were taking down the Christmas tree, boy did that bring back memories... I am going to finish watching the rest of this “classic”... wow!

got snow?

yeah, so where's the snow? It is winter isn't it? shouldn't there at least be a substantial amount of snow? there was frost on the ground yesterday, and today, finally, after months and months of waiting, I woke up to one inch or so of iced snow on the ground. I know it's sad but I was still pretty stoked that the ground was a little white. When I get back to school I'm going to go boarding, hopefully the terrain park will be open, it's pretty lame just going down with all the little kids and skiers, not that all skiers are horrible, the park skiers definitely have more guts when they try to do rails and stuff and their feet aren't stuck together on the same piece of fiberglass, that takes either a lot of guts or one too many hits on the noggin... My sister wants to start boarding, but I think she missed the bus on that one this year, oh well there's always next year...
